nothing to see here

I had a (happily) dull storm.   I live so far inland in Queens that there was no flooding, and my power was not affected at all.  I wasn’t even that scared of the wind; having lived through Hurricane Andrew, I was pretty sure that the winds were not great enough to blow out my windows (at least not after 9 pm or so).

We’re fine, too. My husband’s already walked to the nearest supermarket, and says that, aside from downed tree limbs and the occasional whole tree, our neighborhood (with its electric wires buried underground) escaped relatively unscathed.

Wish we could say the same for the rest of New York City and the NYC metropolitan area, as well as the other areas of the eastern US hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. 😦

We are, however, a tad stranded until subway service is restored. But we’re alive and well, our apartment sustained no damage whatsoever and we never lost electric power.
