Purim seudah

Hosted first Purim seudah today, with a grand total of three guests.  Was in a hurry because mislach manot deliveries took longer than expected- next time I’ll start seudah much later (maybe half an hour before sunset) rather than doing it at 3:30.  On the other hand I needed the time to cook.

I made pancakes with mackerel (OK) and a kind of pseudo-falafel pancake (chickpeas and olive oil, didn’t mash the chickpeas as I would with falafel though)- needless to say the latter were better.

Also bean dishes with lentils (some sort of spice attached, very spicy), black beans (morroccan tagine sauce, good but a little spicy but not as spicy as above), chickpeas (BBQ sauce very nice)

Also a couple of nice cakes:

1) choc muffin mix with tastycake cupcake with hershey bars- wow!

2) cookie mix with pumpkin- was trying to make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, but pumpkin too soft so it didn’t really cohere so I had to freeze it.  Lesson: freezing covers a multitude of sins!

Don’t make the seudah too late, or you’ll risk being too late to say Al HaNissim! (Been there, done that, I’m sorry to say.)
