In last week’s post I focused on the various types of sins that might lead to tzaraas. In his commentary on this week’s portion, Baal Haturim doubles down on the idea that a wide variety of sins can cause this disease.

When a person is cured of tzaraas, a priest sprinkles water seven times over him/her (Lev. 14:7). Baal Haturim writes that this is “Corresponding to the seven reasons for which tzaraas afflictions come.” As I said last week, popular midrashim often don’t tell the whole story!
